We offer scholarships to motivated young women in Tarrant, Parker, and Johnson counties as they pursue their educational dreams at Texas colleges and universities.
You're worried about burdening your parents, working long hours that take your focus away from school, or taking on intimidating loans. All these options make you feel anxious about how you're going to reach your goals without straining your family's finances or hurting your academic performance. We understand, and we’re here to help.
We believe that you're going to make the world a better place by pursuing your education and your dreams, and it's our responsibility as the women who went before you to help light your path and ease your journey.
We’ve been blazing a trail to empower young women and invest in their futures since 1919.
We’ve supported thousands of young women since the Girls Service League got its start in Fort Worth.
In 1978, we shifted our focus to college scholarships. Since then, we've provided over $2,000,000 in college scholarships to our area's future leaders.
Our scholarship recipients must be from Tarrant, Johnson, or Parker county, and they must attend a Texas college or university. Once in school, recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA and 12 hours per semester to retain their scholarship for their two- or four-year undergraduate career.
We accept applications from October to January, and we make our award decisions by April. Applications with excellent essays and reference letters have a greater chance of being awarded, so make sure to follow instructions.
In addition to the scholarship award, the women of the Girls Service League are here to support you through school and beyond.
Their support meant so much because they chose to invest in me and believed in my abilities. Today I am a Special Education Teacher at a Middle School and I have enjoyed teaching but have decided to get a master’s in social work…So, thank you Girls Service League for being a part of the process. I will forever be grateful.
I wanted to let y’all know that, with your help I have been accepted into the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine program. I will be attending classes as the CVM class of 2024! I could not be more excited for this opportunity or more grateful to this organization, which made this possible by supporting me financially in my undergraduate years!
for making this scholarship possible. I am beyond thrilled to learn of my selection for this honor, and I am deeply appreciative of your support! Thank you so much again and I’ll finish school strong!
